Electrical tape is pretty cheap-about 99 cents for a roll that will last a while. There are even cheap little kits at convenience stores for a couple bucks that include a razor and about 6 different colors of tape. The size of the strips varies depending on what type of sign you're getting. The most common, being either the 2-person pedestrian sign, or the 1-person pedestrian sign, which will usually do with strips about a few inches long. The signs are much bigger than they actually look from your car or the ground. Parking lots are filled with handi-cap signs; the immediate vicinity of elementary schools are filled with signs; they are pretty much everywhere.
